- Aka vestibular schwannomas / 8th nerve tumor
- It’s a benign tumor
- Originate from schwann cells, which are glial cells that produce the myelin sheath around nerves in the peripheral nervous system.
- Associated with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2)
- Most common tumor found at the cerebellopontine angle
- Symptoms- Progressive unilateral SNHL, tinnitus, imbalance
- Diagnosis- MRI with gadolinium contrast (Ice cream cone sign)
