It divides into anterior division (AD) and posterior division (PD) -

Branches from the anterior division (AD) of femoral nerve- 

1. Nerve to sartorius 

2. Medial cutaneous nerve of thigh 

3. Intermediate cutaneous nerve of thigh 

 

Branches from the posterior division (PD) of femoral nerve- 

1. Nerve to vastus lateralis (VL)

2. Nerve to vastus medialis (VM)

3. Nerve to vastus intermedius (VI)

4. Nerve to rectus femoris (RF)

5. Saphenous nerve (cutaneous branch)
