External ear nerve supply

Made up of yellow elastic cartilage & covered by skin.

It has two surface-

  • Lateral / Front surface- Skin is closely attached to cartilage 
  • Medial / Back surface- Skin is loosely attached

Supply to

1. Greater auricular nerve
(C2, C3) 

• Main nerve of pinna 

• Supply to major part of
lower half of pinna (Front + Back side)
• Also supply to lobule

2. Lesser occipital nerve
(C2)

Upper part of medial (back)
surface of pinna 

3. Auriculo temporal nerve
(CN 5 br)

Upper part of Lateral (front)
surface of pinna 

4. Auricular branch of vagus (10)
/ Arnold’s nerve- Main nerve supply

5. Sensory division of facial nerve (7) 

/ Nerve of Wrisberg

Concha / Bowel of pinna
